Canvases through the ages

Tutor: Deborah Monteiro

Deborah Monteiro is an art historian, trained at Sussex University and with nearly 30 years of experience of teaching adults. She has worked at the National Gallery in London and lectured in other Art Galleries in the capital and elsewhere. She has run many courses for the WEA, most based at the Fitzwilliam Museum, Kettles Yard and the Classical Archaeology Museum in Cambridge and has also worked in Community Education. She has taught Art & Design at A level and done her own art works as well as printed artistic photographs, in the 1980’s mainly. She currently teaches part time at the Fitzwilliam, runs courses in villages in Cambridgeshire and organises regular trips at home and abroad. Her non museum courses use digital projection.

Deborah is lively, enthusiastic and interesting lecturer who will appeal to both newcomers to Art History and those already familiar with the subject. She is very popular with all her students whose age ranges from 18 to 90 years, some of whom have been with her for more than 20 years - which speaks for itself!
